Letting a waist out is possible too, but only as far as the seam allowance inside allows, and we'll tell you straight what's in there once we open it up.

Tapering is the other big fit job. A pair with a wider leg than you'd like can be brought in without buying new jeans. We take the inseam down, sometimes the outseam too, from the knee or thigh toward the ankle, and narrow the opening to the width you want. The tricky part on denim is keeping the taper smooth and the topstitching consistent so the altered seam matches the factory one. Push the taper too far or sew it unevenly and the leg twists as you walk, which is why we pin it on you and check the line before we commit to anything. Done right, the taper reads like that's how the leg was cut to begin with.
